grill of a 1940's Chevrolet |
Have you ever had a passion? A real live, no foolin' avocation? You know the kind that you can't let go. The kind that if you weren't doing, you would have no idea what to do with yourself. That kind.
Well that's what this little "vacation" or more aptly stay-cation was all about. It was all about a passion. A genuine, no kidding, glazed over look feeling for a hobby. One that you've gone out of your way for, put forth more time and effort (and let's not forget money) than you ever should have for love of this pastime. To feed that desire, we had heard that every friday night we could feed our souls (well Dan could anyway) and our stomachs also.

Checking out the vehicles |
So with that in mind we left out before 6 p.m. for our intended destination figuring that Friday night traffic would be pretty bad. We wanted to be there by 7 p.m. We got to our location around 6:15 as the traffic was manageable. We'd been warned you see, that there would be limited parking space and that the line to get in for dinner would be out the door if we weren't early. So being the complete "A" personalities (with a side of OCD) that we really are, we were early. We were in the parking lot of Biff Buzby's Burgers, but then so were probably at least 100 other people and several police with their cruiser's lights on. Now most people on seeing this would wonder what the heck is going on here. Some might even think of trying someplace else. But not us. Why on earth was it so important to be early for this? Because we weren't there for the burgers, we were there for something much more important. And so were all those other folks as well.

We got out, and made a B line for one we had our eyes on. A car. Not just any car, but a CAR. You see I repeat we weren't coming early for the burgers, we were coming early for the CARS. As one man put it to me, to understand this "you gotta be a car guy." And Dan is a CAR GUY. Capital C and Capital G (oh heck, you might as well say capital everything). Always has been, probably always will be. And you're thinking to yourself all men are car guys. Yes and no.
Dan definitely is. Let me present Exhibit A (and these are the ones I know of.)
1 1973 Corvette
1 1974 Corvette

1 1949 Ford Pick-up
1 1954 Chevy Panel Van (high top)
1 1966 Chevy Pick-up
1 1968 Chevy Camaro (racing car, Ford cut-down rear end with positraction)
Your honor & ladies and gentlemen of the jury (in other words those of you reading my blog) I rest my case.
Now don't get me wrong, we did have a burger. Dan got the chili burger with a side of fries and I got the bacon-cheese-burger with a side of onion rings. We shared so we could try out more of the menu. We each had a drink and the meal came with a complimentary serving of pintos which were very good. As a matter of fact, all the food was really good. Total on dinner (including Dan's military discount less than $22) But good food aside, we had other things on our minds.

So if every Friday night in good weather Biff Buzby's has Cruisin' Night, then we're gonna be there as Dan put it "at least once a month" as he smiles at me or is it past me. . . (with just a touch of drool escaping as he looks at a nice ride he'd like to own.)
Here's hoping you find a place that you can spend time at for your passion, your hobby, your avocation with that same glazed over look in your eyes.
If you'd like a map to Biff Buzby's or more info about the place like their menu or a list of the upcoming events here's the link for their web page for you. http://www.biffbuzbys.com/
In all fairness, I am so not an expert on vehicles such as these. However both the kid, aka our son Evan and my wonderful husband Dan are the combined source for year, make, model and any specific details regarding these vehicles. Thanks to both for their invaluable help and thanks for taking me along with you on this little adventure.
